Barcelona F1 test two day one

Two personal bests for Stroll in the first and second sectors.
Stroll's final sector is also a new personal best, and his 1m18.519s takes him up to third.
Russell is still out there on this run in the Williams, but his latest laps of 1m24.808s and 1m25.026s are nothing to write home about.
Giovinazzi drives straight through the pitlane and back out onto the circuit, as Vettel heads back out and onto a new flying lap. Can he reclaim top spot from Gasly?
A new personal best for Vettel includes a fastest middle sector of all on C3s, but it's not enough to overhaul Gasly, who remains a couple of tenths clear.
Russell's stint is starting to tail off now, as he drops into the 1m26s.
Not much doing out on track at the moment. It's just Vettel - whose last lap was a 1m20.078s - and Russell (a 1m26.770s) circulating.
Russell heads in, but we've still got two cars out on track as Magnussen has taken the Haas back out on a set of C3s.
Magnussen's on course for a new personal best here, with faster times in sectors one and two.
It's a 1m18.888s for the Haas driver, who stays sixth for now.
Vettel has just done a fly-by visit through the pits, heading back out to add to his current 10-lap stint.
End of pitlane start for Vettel. Pulled away super smoothly on the yellow-walled tyre. Not even a hint of wheelspin. Some eager photography going on - including from our own Giorgio Piola - while Vettel was stationary.
That was a bit premature of us to declare. Vettel comes back in next time round for a spot of pitstop practice, before being wheeled back into the garage.
Here comes Magnussen to start lap 100 of the day. He's the first driver to reach a ton.
We noticed Albon's on the C2 tyre as he drove past our vantage point, Magnussen on the C3.
Magnussen's lapping around two seconds slower than his benchmark, Albon about three. Suggests both are in for the long haul at the moment, rather than glory runs.
Ricciardo heads out too. Renault has also been prioritising long runs, will the afternoon driver do the same?
Gasly's on some nice-looking new C3s as he prepares for his next run.
As the afternoon of the first day of the second pre-season test rolls on, let's take a look at the lap chart.

Magnussen - 103
Russell - 85
Gasly - 83
Hamilton - 83
Hulkenberg - 80
Giovinazzi - 76
Norris - 71
Albon - 67
Stroll - 61
Vettel - 31
Leclerc - 29
Ricciardo - 26
Bottas - 1
Magnussen is consistently lapping within a half second now, in the high 1m21s range.
Ricciardo has improved now, the time's 1m20.619s from his last benchmark of 1m20.785s.

Still 11th overall, but his time is beginning to drop gradually on those C2s.
Good final sector from Ricciardo, but not enough to improve again. It's a 1m20.693s that time around.
Mercedes is changing the engine for Bottas after an oil pressure problem.

The team says it has made the decision in order to "continue today's programme and also to pursue our analysis of the problem".
Albon's still ticking through the 1m23s lap time on his long run, while Stroll and Russell now rejoin the track.
Ben Anderson is watching trackside this afternoon, and says:

Not a lot to choose between the Renault and the Haas from my vantage point on the outside of the fast esses of Turns 7/8. The Renault generally looks a little more planted, though Magnussen is on older tyres.

That said, Ricciardo just caught a HUGE moment through the left-hander as he missed the apex fractionally and ran too wide.

I thought he was going to spin but he somehow saved it.
Not spooked by his earlier moment, Ricciardo piles in on the next lap with no fear, hits his apex and rattles the exit kerb for good measure. Of the Honda powered cars, as you’d expect the Red Bull just looks to have the bit more grip all round. Gasly can commit more entry speed and trust the rear will stick when he picks up the throttle. Albon looks less certain of what’s underneath him - but he has less experience and there is a tyre-life offset there to consider too.
Stroll's early laps are within 0.5-1s slower than his best time, his latest lap a 1m19.843s.
Fairly quiet track again, it's now Gasly, Russell on the C5 tyre, Albon and Ricciardo circulating.

Stroll ends his C3 stint as well.
Albon's gone from lapping in the 1m23s to the 1m24s as he contiues this stint. He's up to 81 laps for the day having run just nine by the middle of the morning.

Good lap recovery from Toro Rosso.
Gasly's on a stint of what we reckon to be around 22 laps now, his pace is in the 1m22s, and is a good showing on the C3.
