Barcelona F1 test two day one

Some tyre spotting.

Giovinazzi looks to be on the C1.
Vettel's on the C3, as is Gasly.
Oh and Russell's on the C3 too. Ricciardo appears to be on the C2, like Albon.
Ricciardo has been steadily improving his times since coming out for his first laps, he's now down to a 1m22.410s.

That puts him 12th, but he's much closer to the cars ahead now, and he's on a harder tyre compound than those times ahead.
Vettel comes in after a seven-lap stint, he's still eighth with a 1m19.867s best.
Giovinazzi, who still leads the way, comes into the pits as well. Russell, Albon, Norris - on C2 - and Ricciardo on track.
Magnussen is the first driver to improve after the session resumed, shaving half a second off his time. He sets his 1m19.146s on the C3 tyre.
Stroll brings the Racing Point back onto the track. Let's see if he joins the Magnussen/Russell/Gasly C3 party, or whether he goes rogue like Norris (who's on C1s).
We didn't need to wait long. A stripe of yellow as the Racing Point - not Force India - tells us Stroll's on the C3s. Russell, meanwhile, has brought the Williams back into the pits.
Stroll got very close to his personal best on his first lap of this run. His 1m19.162s was a mere 0.023s shy of his current fourth-fastest time.
Gasly brings the Red Bull back into the pits on a set of tyres that look pretty second-hand now. Plenty of noise from the Red Bull right under our noses in the media centre.
Ricciardo has headed back out on track though, as has Vettel in the Ferrari.
Good thing we spotted that in time - Vettel immediately goes fastest with a 1m18.206s lap!
Ricciardo also improves in the Renault, jumping ahead of Norris and sending the McLaren to the bottom of the pile for now.
Ricciardo improves again, but stays 11th. A 1m21.141s is his lap this time round.
Norris brings the McLaren back to the pits, so it's just Vettel and Ricciardo out there now.
Ricciardo hasn't gone faster than his recent best, but is on a pretty consistent run in the 1m21s at the moment.
Norris did indeed visit the pits, but it appears he may have trundled straight on through as he's back out there now on what appears to be a set of C1s.
It's always nice to see cars getting up close and personal. There's a gap of around a second on track at the moment between Norris and Ricciardo, which the Renault driver has reduced over the past couple of laps
Vettel pits after a fairly short but effective stint on the C3 tyres.
Before Bottas came to a halt after Turn 3, he'd gone out on the old wing that Mercedes ran last week with the inwash endplates.

Evidently, Mercedes fancied doing some comparison runs as part of its validation phase, but the Finn's truncated running has delayed that somewhat.
Never mind about adding to his lap tally, Gasly looks set on reclaiming top spot. His 21.956s is a new fastest time through the first sector.
Gasly also goes quickest through the second sector. Don't let us down now...
He doesn't! A 1m17.715s puts him comfortably clear by half a second.
Let's take a look at the lap chart with just under two and a half hours to go.

Vettel - 21
Giovinazzi - 68
Gasly - 81
Leclerc - 29
Stroll - 56
Magnussen - 95
Russell - 71
Albon - 59
Hamilton - 83
Hulkenberg - 80
Ricciardo - 21
Norris - 69
Bottas - 1
Russell has taken the Williams out for another spin, and Giovinazzi is also back out on track in the Alfa Romeo.
Gasly sets a new overall best in sector one on this lap, but his lap fades away and he can only record a 1m18.051s (which would still be good enough for top spot). Poor form.
Norris and Ricciardo continue to keep each other company down the main straight, with the Renault pulling out of the McLaren driver's draft.
Gasly brings the Red Bull back in after that short, sweet and successful attempt to reclaim top spot.
Norris has also returned to the pits after setting Ricciardo free.
We've still got half the field out on track though, as Stroll takes the Racing Point out once again.
