36 min: McLaren's Perez begins his first timed lap with the medium tyres.
35 min: Massa completing another run with the harder tyres. The Brazilian is 12th quickest after 12 laps. Team-mate Alonso leaves the pits for another run, but with mediums.
35 min: Ricciardo reports that run was a “Disaster. I locked the fronts at the first chicane, and struggled to get warm-up on the fronts.”
34 min: At the other end of the spectrum, Vettel goes quickest again after cooling the tyres for a lap, with 1m24.453s.
34 min: Vergne is still out there on hard tyres. He improves with a time of 1m27.581s but he is only 19th.
34 min: Not a huge difference in lap time so far using the medium compound. The softer tyre seems to be around three tenths quicker.
33 min: Ricciardo binned that run altogether and has come into the pits. He did not manage an improvement on the medium compound.
32 min: Webber is second in the classification with Rosberg third - both are also out there on the softer tyre.
31 min: Vettel lowers the benchmark yet again with a lap of 1m24.721s.
31 min: He backs that up by also being quickest in the middle portion of the lap.
30 min: Vettel is on a timed lap now on the option tyre and goes fastest iof all in the first sector - 27.634s.
30 min: Another small incident for Grosjean, who cuts through the first chicane after outbraking himself.
30 min: Rosberg is out there on medium tyres. He is fifth for now. Interestingly, Ricciardo has yet to improve over his initial time.
29 min: Sauber drivers Gutierrez and Hulkenberg on track with the medium tyre compound.
29 min: Bottas says his Williams is “dragging in a straightline”. His engineer confirms this is costing speed on the straights.
29 min: Vettel is back out there for a second run and this is medium tyres for the German.
28 min: Bottas' engineer confirms that there is a substantial straight-line speed loss and they are preparing a solution.
28 min: Bottas notes on the team radio that he can feel a huge increase in drag down the straight and he urges the team to look into it.
28 min: Ferrari's Marc Gene says Vettel's fastest time so far is 'scary'.
26 min: Ricciardo completes his first lap on those medium tyres and he does not improve, following that lock-up at the first chicane.
26 min: Hamilton has improved by another tenth of a second. He is up to third with a lap of 1m25.534s.
25 min: Another driver to go out on the softer tyre compound, Chilton takes to the track again.
25 min: Van der Garde reports that he is suffering “medium and high-speed understeer. I need more front-end.”
24 min: Ricciardo locks up slightly into the first chicane. Webber is into the pits after a five lap run in the Red Bull.
23 min: Bottas is next to try out the option tyre on offer from Pirelli at its home event.
23 min: Ricciardo is the first driver to try out the medium compound tyre. He is on the circuit for his second run of the afternoon.
22 min: But he is demoted to fourth, as Webber improves to go second to his team-mate with 1m25.253s.
22 min: Hamilton moves further up the list and is now third with a time of 1m25.618s in the Mercedes.
21 min: Webber backed off for a lap to cool his tyres after going third. He is back on it now and looking to go quicker still.
21 min: Just four tenths between the second and the ninth fastest drivers. But that's a bigger gap than Vettel has to second-placed Alonso.
19 min: Webber completes his first effort and slots into third with a time of 1m25.693s.
19 min: Hamilton moves up the order to seventh spot with 1m25.920s.
19 min: Now Alonso takes second place, still over half a second behind Vettel.
18 min: With many of the drivers back in the pits after their first run, Webber is now into a timed lap with minimal traffic.
17 min: Hulkenberg reports: “I think we’ve gone past the peak [of the tyre], I don’t think we’re going to go quicker.” He’s going to pit to allow the team to examine his gearbox.
17 min: The two Ferraris are running close to each other, with Massa ahead of Alonso.
