Track temperature in these overcast conditions is 22 degrees, with less than one minute until the pitlane opens.
Championship leader Fernando Alonso gets comfortable in his Ferrari and is preparing to head out for an installation lap.
Sebastian Vettel is slowly getting ready for some morning action, as the protective cockpit surround is fitted to his RB8.
Pirelli's soft and supersoft tyres are back in action this weekend, with teams keen to see how the softest possible rubber will perform around this tricky circuit.
While even the supersoft proved durable on the streets of Monaco, engineers are expecting a much greater challenge keeping the rubber alive on a track that is traditionally hard on tyres.

The weather has already kept teams on their toes this morning. It started off fine and sunny, but cloud has begun to spill in from the west and a small band of rain made it to within 20 miles of the circuit.
However, this batch of showers is now missing the racetrack to the north and there is little in the way of rain to come over the next couple of hours, so we are clear for a dry first practice session, with air temperature set to reach 22 degrees Celsius later this afternoon.

Hello everyone and welcome to AUTOSPORT Live for extensive coverage and updates from round seven of the 2012 FIA Formula 1 world championship - the Canadian Grand Prix from the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.
The sport arrives in north America on the back of six interesting races, each with a different winner. Surely it won't become the magnificent seven on Sunday?
Practice will begin shortly and, as ever, the task is to firstly check over the cars to make sure everything is functioning properly, before moving into some baseline set-up work.
