23 min: Di Resta backs off down the penultimate straight and exclaims on the radio that he can see drops of moisture on his visor.
22 min: Di Resta is now on his first timed lap of the weekend.
22 min: Massa begins a run in his Ferrari and is testing exhaust developments this morning.
21 min: Vergne is back into the pits after a seven lap run in the Toro Rosso. He has slipped to sixth in the classification.
21 min: Hamilton completes his first flying lap, joining the order in seventh.
20 min: Rosberg crosses the line and goes quickest of the early runners with a time of 1m16.837s.
20 min: Bruno Senna has been for a trip across the grass at Turn 9 but he was able to continue and remains out there on his first run.
20 min: Raikkonen completes a quick lap in 1m17.188s to grab back the early benchmark.
19 min: De la Rosa and Schumacher are now on track for a run.
19 min: Perez is told to keep going by his engineer despite cold front tyres. He clocks the fastest middle sector, moving up to third overall.
18 min: Vergne improves again but still remains in fourth with a lap of 1m19.014s.
18 min: Grosjean heads the list once again, with a 1m17.386s now the time to beat. He pits the Lotus.
18 min: Rosberg's first effort places him fifth with a time of 1m20.832s.
17 min: Alonso leaves the pits for a look at how his Ferrari is working on the soft tyres.
16 min: Senna comes out for a run in the Williams, while Vergne improves with a time of 1m20.770s.
16 min: 2011 winner Button completes a lap on the soft tyres, clearly keen to find a balance that he has struggled for in his McLaren recently.
15 min: Rosberg heads out for his first serious run in the Mercedes.
14 min: Vergne joins the list in third position, with a first lap time of 1m24.742s.
14 min: Raikkonen switches the Lotus order at the top of the early times with a new best of 1m18.703s.
14 min: Vergne is now on a timed lap, as his team-mate Ricciardo joins the racetrack.
13 min: Adrian Newey looks over the activity on Webber's car, before calmly wandering out the back of the Red Bull garage.
13 min: Grosjean is initially fractions up on his team-mate, clocking 1m20.295s.
12 min: Raikkonen completes his first lap against the clock with an opening time of 1m20.347s.
12 min: Vergne makes it four drivers on track as he begins a run for Toro Rosso.
11 min: Grosjean joins his team-mate on circuit, as does Perez in the Sauber.
10 min: Raikkonen heads out to get himself familiar with this tricky circuit again.
10 min: Vettel was also running with a lot of flo-vis paint over the left-hand side of the rear wing - same side as the sensor array - and checks are being carried out.
9 min: Meantime, in the garages it is data download time for the telemetry analysts, as Red Bull engineers go to work taking photos of the rear of the RB8.
8 min: The official F1 radar is picking up just the slightest shower cell on a direct path for the circuit, but it will be a couple of minutes at most.
7 min: Jean-Eric Vergne is also told on the team radio that the rain we mentioned earlier is passing to the north of Montreal.

6 min: Vettel is heading round the lap with a brilliant array of sensors attached to the left-hand side of his car.
4 min: Vettel finally heads out to check the basic functions in his Red Bull Renault.
4 min: Button guides his McLaren back into the pitlane for checks after a two-lap installation effort.
3 min: Button has continued into a second lap in his McLaren.
3 min: One lap for the field so far to check over the machinery and straight back in, so that the engineers can monitor the data.
2 min: Senna and Hulkenberg leave the pits and Vettel is the only driver yet to venture out.
2 min: Massa heads out with a large amount of flow-vis paint applied to his Ferrari. The team has similar plans for Alonso.
2 min: De la Rosa, Maldonado, di Resta, Schumacher and Rosberg all join the racetrack for their installation run.
1 min: Ricciardo, Karthikeyan and Webber all head out to check over their cars.
