Lap 8: Schumacher is past d'Ambrosio and Liuzzi and now runs in 19th, but he is 10 seconds behind Jarno Trulli. Now we'll see what he can do in clear air.
Lap 8: Meanwhile, the McLaren fight is far from over as Button dives past Hamilton into Turn 1.
Lap 8: Michael Schumacher has passed Narain Karthikeyan for 21st and is just 2.5s behind his next target - Jerome d'Ambrosio.
Lap 8: DRS is all Alonso needs to fly past Rosberg and take over third.
Lap 7: But Hamilton finally fights off his team-mate and is now fifth, with Button sixth.
Lap 7: Nick Heidfeld has come back past Rubens Barrichello for ninth. It's all action so far in Turkey.
Lap 7: Hamilton finally gets his McLaren by Button at Turn 12 but the fight continues down the pit straight, just like last year ...
Lap 6: Vettel, meanwhile, has a sizable 4.4 second lead already, with all the action far behind the leading Red Bull.
Lap 6: Massa remains in seventh place but is dropping away slightly from the top six. He is 1.2s behind Hamilton, with Petrov seemingly without damage in eighth.
Lap 6: Alonso is now right on Rosberg's gearbox as the McLaren scrap rages on behind them.
Lap 6: Schumacher is 6.5s behind Karthikeyan and he will quickly catch the HRT driver.
Lap 6: Webber gets a big DRS run on Rosberg and he's easily past the Mercedes, despite struggling a little to slow the Red Bull.
Lap 5: Jarno Trulli has also now passed Liuzzi's HRT and runs in 18th position. D'Ambrosio is 20th with Karthikeyan 21st, Schumacher 22nd and Perez 23rd.
Lap 5: Alonso is also right behind that pair, as the two McLarens scrap further behind.
Lap 5: Webber is still right behind Rosberg as he tries to restore the Red Bull one-two.
Lap 5: Alguersuari dropped back behind Liuzzi on the opening lap, but forcefully got through ahead of the Hispania at the end of the first lap.
Lap 4: Maldonado is 14th with Kovalainen 15th, Kobayashi already up to 16th, Trulli 17th, Alguersuari 18th and Liuzzi in 19th place.
Lap 4: Hamilton then tried a bold move around Webber at Turn 3 but he couldn't stop the McLaren and ran wide, dropping to his current sixth place.
Lap 4: Replays of the start show Webber struggled to get away from the dirty side of the grid, handing Rosberg an easy move into second.
Lap 4: Barrichello has passed Heidfeld for ninth. Behind them, Sutil is 11th with Force India team-mate di Resta 12th, with Buemi 13th.
Lap 4: Hamilton tries a DRS move around the outside of team-mate Button at Turn 12 but can't find a way past after a close dice.
Lap 3: Massa takes over seventh position with Petrov now eighth. The Russian tells the team over the radio that he is unsure if there is any damage to his car.
Lap 3: Webber is closing rapidly on Rosberg and looks to lining up a move on the Mercedes.
Lap 3: Schumacher's front wing is damaged and he is immediately into the pits for repairs.
Lap 3: Behind the top six, Schumacher is seventh but Petrov makes a huge lunge up the inside of Turn 12 and the pair make contact.
Lap 2: Hamilton is all over the back of team-mate Button as he tries to recover from that poor first lap.
Lap 2: Perez is into the pits at the end of the first lap for a change of front wing. He rejoins at the back of the field.
Lap 2: Vettel flashes over the line to lead Rosberg by 1.2 seconds from Rosberg's Mercedes.
Lap 1: Round Turn 8 it is Vettel from Rosberg, Webber and Alonso.
Lap 1: Vettel gets a great start and leads. Also Rosberg is through into a fine second as they exit Turns 1 and 2.
Lap 1: The five red lights go out and we are racing in Turkey!
The stragglers are now getting into position and we are set for 58 racing laps. We await the lights ...
The front two rows are now in position and the rest of the grid is forming up slowly.
Vettel turns for home and begins to move towards his starting slot at the front.
Down the hill towards the final three corners and the pole position man now slows the field down to keep them all close.
Kobayashi looks to be mirroring Webber's strategy from China by starting his charge from the back on hard rubber.
Down to the multiple apexes of Turn 8 and Vettel generates some load through his right sided tyres.
The top ten are of course starting the race on the soft tyres they used in qualifying.
Vettel is already weaving from side to side to generate heat into his soft tyres through Turns 3, 4 and 5.
