As it turned out, Sebastian Vettel's crash in Friday practice proved nothing. The German not only dominated qualifying, but the race itself and takes a commanding lead in the title race.
Behind him on the road there was action all the way through the field, but was the DRS perhaps too effective at this circuit? That will be one of the main talking points as the championship rolls on.

Red Bull has a 43 point advantage over McLaren in the constructors' race, with Ferrari some distance further behind in third.
Vettel leads the drivers' standings with 93 points, some 34 ahead of Hamilton on 59 and Webber on 55. Button has 46 points, with Alonso 41.

Having sprayed his peers, Vettel decided to give his RB7 below the podium a celebratory shower.

Mark Webber receives his award for second place. The Australian had a great battle with Alonso in the final stages to secure a Red Bull 1-2.

Vettel picks up his trophy for the 13th win of his career after another storming drive to victory today.
That is followed by the Austrian national anthem for today's winning constructor - Red Bull Racing.
The drivers step out onto the podium and the German national anthem rings out for Sebastian Vettel - winner of the 2011 Turkish Grand Prix.
Paul di Resta retired just after making his fourth pitstop deep in the race and the unfortunate Timo Glock didn't even start after a gearbox problem found on the grid.
Alguersuari finished in 16th, with Maldonado 17th, Trulli 18th, Kovalainen 19th, d'Ambrosio 20th, Karthikeyan 21st and Liuzzi last in 22nd.
Out of the points: Massa 11th, Schumacher 12th, Sutil passed Perez to retake 13th on the last lap, Perez 14th and Barrichello in 15th.
Vettel is naturally delighted after another remarkable drive as he tours through the field of marbles off-line to pick up some extra weight.
So Buemi finishes in ninth after a solid drive. Kobayashi takes the final point after starting from the back of the field.
Heidfeld finishes in a strong seventh place for Renault, and Petrov passes Buemi for eighth on the final lap.
Button tried three stops but started and finished sixth, despite some fascinating scraps with his team-mate.
Rosberg had a busy race but eventually made his strategy work to take fifth for Mercedes.
Hamilton trails home a distant fourth, pretty much the best he could hope for after another battling performance.
Alonso does take a creditable third, but it was a very good drive from the Ferrari man, with some fast race pace today.
Webber takes second for Red Bull, having battled back strongly on Alonso to demote the Spaniard to the final podium place.
It was another flawless performance from the world champion as he celebrates a remarkable third win in his strong defence of the title.

Lap 58: Vettel rounds Turn 8 and is gliding serenely to another victory. Just a few corners to go now ...
Lap 58: Alonso is unable to put pressure on Webber and they remain in second and third.
Lap 57: Perez puts a great move on Sutil for 13th in the final complex of corners as Vettel goes onto the final lap in Turkey.
Lap 57: Hamilton is a whopping 41 seconds behind the leader in fourth, with Rosberg fifth, Button sixth and Heidfeld in seventh spot.
Lap 56: Vettel leads by 7.9s over team-mate Webber and Alonso is now 1.7s behind the Australian.
Lap 56: Kovalainen pits the Lotus - he had to do it. His pace had dropped off completely over the last few laps. He easily holds on to 19th place.
Lap 55: Massa is now up to 11th with Schumacher 12th and Alguersuari 13th. Perez is just 0.3s behind Alguersuari in 14th, having passed Barrichello recently.
Lap 55: Rosberg has caught the ailing Button and breezes past the McLaren. Rosberg now fifth, Button sixth.
Lap 55: Schumacher makes a great move on Alguersuari at Turn 13 on the next lap to take over 11th, but almost immediately Massa senses an opportunity and passes both of them as they squabble.
Lap 54: Massa does have a go at Schumacher and passes the German into Turn 12, but Schumacher completes the switchback in Turn 13 to retake 12th.
Lap 54: Five laps remain in an action-packed Turkish Grand Prix.
Lap 54: Heikki Kovalainen is losing a lot of pace in recent laps. He has lost 18th to team-mate Trulli and is clearly struggling with tyres, having only made two stops.
Lap 54: Meanwhile, Vettel has a comfortable 8.2 second lead after dominating the race from the front.
Lap 53: Webber has pulled 0.7 seconds clear of Alonso, but will need to watch out for the Spaniard getting back into the DRS zone.
Lap 53: Adrian Sutil has passed Barrichello for 14th place, and now the Brazilian will have to work hard to stave off an attack from Perez.
