Lap 23: Vettel takes back the fastest lap on his fresh rubber as he is clocked 11.7 seconds ahead of Alonso.
Lap 23: Kovalainen pits from a fine 11th place in the Lotus.
Lap 23: Hamilton and Schumacher go wheel-to-wheel once again but the McLaren man still can't find a way past the German.
Lap 23: Senna exited the pits from his stop and was level with Kobayashi into Turn 1. We thought they might emerge side-by-side. Senna takes the position and is now 13th.
Lap 22: Button sets the fastest lap as Massa pits.
Lap 22: Alguersuari rejoins after a quick stop, promoting Perez to seventh. Glock has also been into the pits.
Lap 22: Hamilton complains on the radio about the "one move" rule and is told that the FIA are aware of Schumacher's driving.
Lap 21: Alguersuari is now up to seventh, but he comes in for his first stop.
Lap 21: Vettel pits from the lead and blasts back out clearly in control of this race.
Lap 21: Massa is yet to stop and now up to second as Hamilton is again robustly defended by Schumacher out of the second chicane.
Lap 21: Senna also pitted at the end of the last lap. He will be looking to jump Kobayashi at the exit.
Lap 20: Maldonado now has Perez on his tail ... but the Mexican can;t get the job done at Ascari. Maldonado pits at the end of the lap.
Lap 20: Alonso is the next man to pit, taking soft rubber for his second stint and resuming in third.
Lap 20: This leaves Senna clear in 10th as Kobayashi rejoins.
Lap 20: Hamilton takes more of the soft rubber and resumes behind his team-mate... and Schumacher. Hamilton is not going to be happy about that.
Lap 20: Senna has another go at Kobayashi into Parabolica but the Japanese pilot holds the line ... and then pits.
Lap 19: So for now it is Vettel in a clear lead from Alonso, as Hamilton heads in for service at McLaren.
Lap 19: Kobayashi locks up and slides wide at Turn 1 with Senna on his outside. Both go briefly off-track and the fight continues with the Sauber holding 10th.
Lap 19: Senna is right on the back of the Sauber now and the Japanese driver is certainly struggling with tyres.
Lap 18: Button resumes in fifth, well clear of a heavy pack of traffic.
Lap 18: Kobayashi's Sauber looks a nightmare to drive as he gets wild oversteer in the middle of Ascari.
Lap 18: Button pits his McLaren for the first time.
Lap 18: Buemi pits the Toro Rosso and moves out of that three-car fight involving himself, Kobayashi and Senna.
Lap 18: Replays of the Curve Grande moment shows the door closing on Hamilton, forcing him onto the grass after which he lost position to Button.
Lap 18: Di Resta rejoined from his recent stop in 15th place, but he has just passed Glock to take 14th.
Lap 17: Hamilton finally gets past as Schumacher heads in for fresh rubber.
Lap 17: Button makes his move on Schumacher as he dives past into Ascari.
Lap 17: Hamilton tries the grass around the inside of the Curve Grande... surviving, just, but losing position to Button.
Lap 16: HRT managed to get Ricciardo's car fired up and he is back in the race, but many laps down.
Lap 16: Alonso has a 4.4 second margin back to the battle between Schumacher, Hamilton and Button.
Lap 16: Maldonado has fallen back eight seconds behind Massa now, but he remains in seventh, 1.1s ahead of Perez.
Lap 16: Meanwhile, Vettel is off to a 8.9 second lead from Alonso as the battle rages on far behind him.
Lap 15: McLaren must be considering an undercut stop for fresh rubber as Hamilton again fails to pull alongside as his car hits the limiter.
Lap 15: Massa is told that Schumacher is holding up the McLaren pair, with the second Ferrari 10s behind and closing in.
Lap 15: Di Resta is back out after a quick stop, but has fallen way outside the top 10.
Lap 14: No mistake from Schumacher in Parabolica this time as Hamilton and Button harry the seven-time world champion.
Lap 14: Di Resta pits the Force India from ninth place.
Lap 14: Another three-car train has developed outside the top 10. Kobayashi is 11th with Buemi and Senna right on his gearbox.
Lap 13: Button is now right with the battling pair.
