Lap 37: Kobayashi in fact rejoined in 13th place, but he has fresh tyres now and has Petrov, Buemi and Alguersuari just a few seconds up the road.
Lap 37: Alonso pits for another attempt to undercut Webber.
Lap 35: Vettel's push against Button hasn't really yielded much progress, with the gap still around five seconds.
Lap 35: Kobayashi finally comes into the pits. He will drop at least to the back end of the top 10.
Lap 35: Even though there is no need to use both compounds, the final set of super-softs left in the garage won't be enough to last half distance.
Lap 34: Very similar tyre strategy so far for the top five, with all having another set of super-soft rubber to use before a later move to the prime
Lap 34: Massa gets s good drive out of the final corner and passes Kobayashi into Turn 1 for sixth place.
Lap 34: Perez comes in to serve his drive-through penalty, handing 15th to Maldonado.
Lap 34: Alonso gets on his DRS and just can't make the outside move, or the switchback into Turn 2, work this time by.
Lap 33: Alguersuari is 11th for Toro Rosso with Petrov 12th, Buemi 13th, Sutil 14th, Perez 15th and Maldonado 16th.
Lap 33: Alonso is back on Webber's gearbox. This pair are again 17s behind leader Hamilton on the road.
Lap 33: Perez had overtaken Kovalainen for track position in the yellow zone into Turn 1. The stewards now hand Perez a penalty.
Lap 33: Vettel is pushing hard at this stage but is currently only making up ground lost by pitting later than the McLarens.
Lap 32: Race control reports Vettel has been off the circuit, setting the fastest lap in the process.
Lap 32: Kobayashi is staying out in sixth place with Massa seventh, Rosberg eighth, di Resta ninth and Barrichello up to 10th.
Lap 31: Webber is a further 2.6 seconds behind his team-mate, with Alonso closing to just 1.1s off the Red Bull's gearbox.
Lap 31: Sergio Perez is under investigation for overtaking in the most recent yellow zone into Turn 1 as Heidfeld's car was being recovered.
Lap 31: Hamilton's lead is 7.2 seconds from Button, with Vettel now a further 7.1 seconds behind the P2 McLaren.
Lap 31: Light spots of rain are beginning to fall once again.
Lap 30: Kobayashi is up to sixth place for the time being, as Massa continues his progress and passes Rosberg for seventh up the hill into Turn 4.
Lap 30: Alonso is closing on Webber again.
Lap 29: That puts Hamilton back in the lead from team-mate Button, followed on the road by the delayed Vettel and his team-mate: Webber.
Lap 29: Massa did get the undercut as Schumacher exited the pits. The German then immediately tried to pass the Ferrari at Turn 2 and spun.
Lap 28: Michael Schumacher pulls off to the side of the track. He is out of the race.
Lap 28: Vettel is in the pits and will likely fall well behind Button with that curious strategy move.
Lap 28: Vettel's pace is poor at this stage and surely he will be in for fresh tyres very soon.
Lap 27: Sutil and Liuzzi come into the pits. Meantime, yellow flags remain in place approaching Turn 1 as the marshals clear away Heidfeld's Renault
Lap 27: Alonso is enjoying his fresh rubber and sets the fastest lap. He remains behind Webber through that pitstop sequence.
Lap 27: Button resumes well behind team-mate Hamilton on the road.
Lap 27: Schumacher pits from eighth position, but Massa may get the undercut here and take track position away from the German.
Lap 27: Button is the next man in the pits, while Vettel has remained out for the moment.
Lap 26: Massa, Petrov and Buemi all come into the pits for another set of slick tyres.
Lap 26: Super-soft tyres go on the leader and he is down and away.
Lap 26: Heidfeld immediately pulled onto the grass with the Renault by that stage in flames. He jumped out, leaving the marshals to deal with the inferno.
Lap 26: Hamilton responds with a much-needed call for fresh rubber.
Lap 26: This is a tricky strategy call, with the risk of a safety car deployment hanging in the air.
Lap 25: Heidfeld had pitted and as he pulled away smoke was visible from the exhaust area. It caught fire rapidly as he exited the pitlane.
Lap 25: Webber and Alonso dive into the pits for a change of rubber and have to dodge the debris from the smoldering Renault.
Lap 25: Nick Heidfeld's Renault has caught fire spectacularly and he leaps out of the car to safety.
Lap 24: Button is the man on the move at the moment as he finds life still in his tyres.
