Lap 40: Rosberg is in fifth position, 1.8 seconds behind Button, with Kubica sixth, Barrichello seventh and Sutil eighth.
Lap 40: Hulkenberg is now ninth in the Williams with Massa one second behind him in 10th. Petrov is 11th with Alguersuari 12th.
Lap 41: Vettel has not given up the chase out front, with the gap just 1.4 seconds between the two.
Lap 41: Buemi is 13th with Kovalainen 14th and Schumacher 54.2 seconds behind the Lotus in 15th , after that change of front wing.
Lap 41: Race control has stated that the incident between Schumacher and Heidfeld is being investigated by the stewards.
Lap 42: Glock is 16th, but 56 seconds behind Schumacher, with di Grassi the last remaining runner in 17th position.
Lap 42: Button is being pushed by his McLaren engineers and is told to push Webber, whose tyres have been in use since the first safety car.
Lap 42: Vettel is now just 1.1 seconds behind Alonso and is not letting the Spaniard get away easily with this race.
Lap 42: Sutil in eighth is coming under strenuous attack from Hulkenberg. The gap between them is 0.7 seconds with Massa a further 0.6 seconds back in 10th.
Lap 43: Vettel is asking his engineer to let him know if the team spot brake problems with his Red Bull.
Lap 43: Schumacher in 15th is catching Kovalainen at almost three seconds per lap. At this current rate he may just catch the Lotus before the end of the race.
Lap 44: Lucas di Grassi pits from 17th position in the Virgin. He rolls back into the race without problem, but remains rooted to the back of the field.
Lap 44: Sutil is clearly holding up the back of cars behind him. The German is still in eighth position, but now has Hulkenberg, Massa, Petrov, Buemi and Alguersuari all nose-to-tail behind him.
Lap 44: Hamilton has arrived back in the pits to contemplate his second costly DNF in a row.
Lap 44: Hulkenberg makes a mistake which allows Massa to take an interested look at the back of the Williams. Massa isn't able to take the place and Hulkenberg holds onto ninth.
Lap 45: Vettel is pushing very hard now and takes the fastest lap out to 1m48.920s. He's just a second behind Alonso and ready to pounce.
Lap 45: Alonso is now closing on traffic in the form of di Grassi's Virgin.
Lap 45: So we have eighth to 13th all within one second of each other. Interestingly, Kovalainen is 14th and only 12 seconds behind this scrap.
Lap 46: The Ferrari team are encouraging Alonso to push in response to Vettel. That is not ideal given the Spaniard's lack of fresh engines.
Lap 46: Kubica makes an unscheduled stop from sixth.
Lap 46: That's likely to a be suspected puncture for Kubica and he resumes behind Alguersuari.
Lap 46: Vettel continues to pile on the pressure and the young German clearly wants victory here tonight.
Lap 47: Kubica is now 13th, but he will quickly catch up to the back of the Sutil train.
Lap 47: But Alonso responds strongly with an impressive fastest lap of 1m48.867s.
Lap 47: Petrov in 10th made a mistake on the last lap and lost a lot of time. He quickly posts a 1m51.903s lap and is about to haul himself back onto the gearbox of Massa.
Lap 47: The stewards will take no further action on that clash between Webber and Hamilton, deeming it a racing incident.
Lap 48: So Sutil is promoted to seventh position after Kubica's stop. He has Hulkenberg eighth, Massa ninth, Petrov 10th and Buemi 11th right behind him.
Lap 48: Kubica is immediately on the attack and has passed Jaime Alguersuari for 12th position.
Lap 49: Alonso sets the fastest lap again at 1m48.822s, stretching his lead to 1.2 seconds.
Lap 49: Kubica quickly catches up to the back of Buemi's Toro Rosso and is set to battle for 11th position.
Lap 50: Kubica makes a move the Singapore sling to the inside of Buemi but the Swiss uses a robust defence to stay ahead.
Lap 50: The next traffic for the lead pair will be Timo Glock, with the leaders looking to put a second lap on the Virgin car.
Lap 50: Kubica was extremely unhappy with Buemi's tactics and raised his left hand in anger.
Lap 51: Glock is extremely slow and the leaders are easily past the Virgin. He looks to be coasting to retirement.
Lap 51: Sutil is somehow managing to stay ahead of all this chaos in the midfield. He remains in seventh position with Hulkenberg and Massa right on his gearbox.
Lap 51: 10 laps or 20 minutes remain in the Singapore Grand Prix.
Lap 51: Kubica has another look at Buemi - this time at Turn 7 - but the Toro Rosso driver keeps the place.
Lap 52: The stewards will take no further action on the incident between Schumacher and Heidfeld either.
Lap 52: Kubica finally gets the job done and passes Buemi to take over 11th position.
Lap 52: Button is told to race Webber to the flag but he is 2.8 seconds behind the final podium place.
