Lap 10: Stewards have decided on no further action for that Kubica and Vettel incident, when the latter ended up on the grass at Kemmel.
Lap 10: Alonso passes Trulli's Lotus to take over 14th. Moments later, de la Rosa follows him through, dropping the Italian to 16th position.
Lap 9: Button is warned of further rain possible in 20 minutes.
Lap 9: Alonso has passed de la Rosa and now runs on the gearbox of Trulli's Lotus. This is now a battle over 14th.
Lap 9: Kamui Kobayashi runs in 13th. He is the first driver to have completed a stop and can go to the end if there is no further rain.
Lap 9: Hamilton is now 5.5 seconds clear as Vettel closes up on Button to begin a fight for second.
Lap 8: Alonso is through on Glock and Yamamoto in one lap and he's up to 17th. Pedro de la Rosa is four seconds ahead in 16th.
Lap 7: The second-place McLaren is suffering from some minor front-wing damage picked up as Button fought with Kubica in the final corner on lap one.
Lap 7: Alonso is now 19th, having passed Buemi's Toro Rosso on that lap. His next target is Glock - three seconds up the road.
Lap 7: Hamilton is peerless in these greasy conditions and sets the fastest lap at 1m51.789s - now almost four seconds clear of Button.
Lap 6: Senna comes in and switches off the engine. This could be end of the day for the young Brazilian.
Lap 6: Vettel has shaken off Kubica, who is now coming under pressure from Webber's Red Bull. The Australian must be ruing that disastrous start.
Lap 6: It is incredible that Alonso is even in the race after the heavy crunch as we see Senna spinning at the Curve Paul Frere. He pits from 23rd.
Lap 6: Hamilton presses home his advantage out front and is now 2.7 seconds clear of Button.
Lap 5: That chaos at the final corner at the end of the first lap is also being looked at by the officials.
Lap 5: Replays show Barrichello's demise. He missed his braking point in the slippery conditions for the Bus Stop and smashed straight into the side of Alonso's Ferrari.
Lap 5: Vettel is under pressure from Kubica - with both also now under investigation by the stewards.
Lap 5: Alguersuari and Alonso pit to go back onto dry tyres. Alonso leaves and is at the back of the field.
Lap 5: Hamilton clocks a 1m58.665s to pull 1.5 seconds clear of team-mate Button.
Lap 4: Positive starts down the field - Schumacher is up to 12th, Trulli is an amazing 13th with di Grassi 14th, Yamamoto 15th, Alguersuari 16th and Alonso is way down in 17th.
Lap 4: The sun is already out again as Hamilton leads the pack down through Pouhon at racing speed.
Lap 4: Hamilton runs wide, Button almost mugs him as Vettel does take third from Kubica.
Lap 4: The safety car comes into the pitlane and we are racing once again.
Lap 3: This will be a mighty restart with many drivers on slicks on a damp circuit.
Lap 3: The safety car will pit at the end of this lap.
Lap 3: The shower is passing and those who took on intermediates may have made a mistake.
Lap 3: Barrichello is out of his 300th grand prix - a disaster for the likable Brazilian.
Lap 3: The order is Hamilton from Button, Kubica, Vettel, Webber, Massa, Hulkenberg, Sutil and Liuzzi.
Lap 3: This shower is easing and the majority of the pack on slick rubber look to be on the correct tyre.
Lap 3: Sauber wasn't ready for Kobayashi and eventually the team finds a set of hard slicks to put on the car. He rejoins.
Lap 3: Kobayashi pits from 12th, Alguersuari from 14th and Senna from 18th. They will fall to the back of the field.
Lap 3: The leaders continue and will brave it out, helped by the safety car leading the pack slowly.
Lap 3: This is now a big decision - pit for intermediates or continue on slicks?
Lap 2: The safety car has been deployed.
Lap 2: De la Rosa, Kovalainen, Glock, Alonso and Buemi have been into the pits to take on intermediate tyres.
Lap 2: Hamilton leads from Button as they tiptoe around in heavy rain - on slicks.
Lap 2: Conditions are very ticky already on slicks but most of the pack are heading for the wettest part of the second tour.
Lap 2: The stewards will have a nightmare to sort this lot out now as the field continues on slick tyres!
Lap 2: There is chaos at the Bus Stop as many drivers miss the chicane. At least nine drivers went off the track and resumed through the asphalt run-off area.
Lap 2: They all run wide and Alonso is involved in a clash with Barrichello.
