Lap 26: The safety car comes into the pitlane and we are racing once again.
Lap 25: The safety car heads towards the final corner of the lap. There will be action very soon.
Lap 25: Adrian Sutil comes into the pits and there is clearly more than just problems with the front wing. The German retires from the race.
Lap 24: The safety car will pit at the end of this lap.
Lap 24: Jenson Button has also done okay out of this incident. He is now eighth, but Webber has lost out badly and is ninth. Look for the Red Bull driver making a move on the championship leader when racing resumes.
Lap 24: Hamilton is told on the radio to keep working on his brakes, ensuring they are up to temperature for the restart.
Lap 24: Jarno Trulli has been the main beneficiary of the mayhem at the rear of the field. He has passed the rest of that Alguersuari train and runs 14th.
Lap 24: Rosberg is told on the radio that he is to follow the safety car into the pits to take his drive through. That will be to his benefit as the pack will not be up to full speed.
Lap 24: The young Spaniard is having a nightmare race. He was horrendously slow in the first stint and now has a bungled pit stop.
Lap 23: It would appear that the STR crew members are not seriously injured and were able to pick themselves up from the floor.
Lap 23: This is very costly for Rosberg as he will have to take his drive through shortly after the restart when the field is tightly bunched.
Lap 23: Jaime Alguersuari has been in the pits, but left the pitbox before the lollipop was raised. He lurched forward with the fuel hose still attached to the car, and scattered several of the Toro Rosso mechanics!
Lap 23: Hamilton leads the pack behind the safety car from the penalised Rosberg, followed by Glock, Alonso, Barrichello, Kovalainen and Button.
Lap 23: The Sutil-Heidfeld incident started when the Force India driver finally lost patience stuck behind Alguersuari. He sent a move up the inside but spun on the inside with no grip. Heidfeld then came round and was innocently collected as Sutil tried to get going.
Heidfeld is out of the race and Sutil has been in the pits for front-end repairs.
Heidfeld is out of the race and Sutil has been in the pits for front-end repairs.
Lap 23: All the drivers have taken the opportunity to complete their first stops.
Lap 23: Button has re-joined behind Kovalainen.
Lap 22: Rosberg, Vettel and Glock are behind Hamilton on the road.
Lap 22: Hamilton will remain in the lead as he has already fuelled.
Lap 22: Fernando Alonso, Kovalainen and Button pit immediately.
Lap 22: The Alguersuari train has ended in tears down the field. Adrian Sutil has spun and Nick Heidfeld came round and was punted by the Force India as Sutil tried to rejoin. Both cars are damaged heavily.
Lap 22: The safety car has been deployed.
Lap 21: There has been a collision involving Sutil and Heidfled.
Lap 21: Nico Rosberg has been handed a drive through penalty for crossing the pit exit line.
Lap 21: Hamilton is cleanly out of the pits, still leading from Alonso's yet to pit Renault.
Lap 21: Mark Webber has dropped down the field following his first stop and runs in 12th place.
Lap 21: Nico Rosberg is under investigation for crossing the pit exit line.
Lap 21: Lewis Hamilton pits from the lead.
Lap 20: Jenson Button is up to ninth place as the first round of stops begin.
Lap 20: Barrichello just holds on to his car exiting the pits, almost repeating Rosberg's mistake.
Lap 20: Fisichella enjoys a quicker stop than the Force India driver and will keep track position over Liuzzi.
Lap 20: Rubens Barrichello is also in for a first stop.
Lap 20: Glock is the next man in as Hamilton continues.
Lap 20: Fisichella and Liuzzi pit together in a race at the back of the field. This takes them out of the Alguersuari train for a time.
Lap 20: Replays show that Rosberg was too quick exiting the pits and bounced over the painted area before cutting back inside the blend line.
Lap 19: Rosberg is slow on his fresh tyres and Barrichello has nipped past.
Lap 19: Harder tyres are Rosberg's choice too and he is away, resuming clumsily behind Alonso after possibly crossing the pit exit line.
Lap 19: Nick Heidfeld has made an error somewhere on the last lap. He has dropped to almost four seconds behind Trulli. He remains 19th.
Lap 19: Nico Rosberg is the next man to make a stop, leaving Hamilton clear out in the lead.
Lap 18: Meanwhile, a marshal has recovered that piece of debris and the yellow has been withdrawn.
Lap 18: Alguersuari's pace in 14th has been shocking in this opening stint of the race. He is now 27 seconds behind team-mate Sebastien Buemi, with the five cars of Sutil, Fisichella, Liuzzi, Trulli and Heidfeld all still reasonably close behind him.
