Meeke determined to avoid errors

The Northern Irishman leads Peugeot stablemate Nicolas Vouilloz by over 40 seconds going into tomorrow's final eight stages on the mid-Atlantic island after setting six fastest times on today's nine stages.

He knows, however, that a small mistake could spell disaster, as proved by Skoda rival Juho Hanninen's big accident on the final stage of Saturday that halted the rally for an hour.

"Everybody is a threat; I'm a threat to myself if I make a mistake," said Meeke. "It's up to me not to make one. It depends on the weather tomorrow, some people say it might rain, but for me everything is okay."

When asked if his 40s will be enough as he runs first on the stages tomorrow, Meeke replied: "I hope so. The car feels fantastic, just like it did in Brazil. We knew our notes were good for those stages, so I had a push.

"Tomorrow there are three new stages. We know that one won't be a problem [running first on the road] but we're not sure about the other two."
