Bouffier gets second Proton seat

MEM team principal Chris Mellors has announced that the second Proton Satria Neo S2000 will be driven by Bryan Bouffier on the Barum Rally round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge at the end of August

This will be the first time the British firm has fielded two Protons, with Frenchman Bouffier joining MEM's regular IRC driver Guy Wilks. Bouffier has previous experience of the Satri Neo S2000, having given the Proton its competition debut on last year's Antibes Rally in the South of France.

"We know Bryan very well," said Mellors, "and we know what he's capable of - particulary on this rally. He's tested and driven the car before, he's quick, he's very good on asphalt and I'm sure he'll do a very good job for us in the Czech Republic."

Mellors added that it remained a strong possibility that Bouffier would return to the team for the Sanremo Rally a month later.

Bouffier is currently contesting and leading the Polish Rally Championship in a Group N Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX.
