DTM targets Moscow race
The DTM (German touring car series) has targeted a championship round of its series in Moscow next year, according to a report in this week's Autosport magazine
Series chief Hans Werner Aufrecht is optimistic of striking a deal with the Russian city officials. He said "Moscow is interested in hosting a DTM race in the city next year. We are in discussions, but nothing is fixed at the moment."
The Russian capital appears to be an appealing option for the DTM as it is a growth market.
But Audi motorsport chief Dr Wolfgang Ullrich is wary of adding a new venue to the calendar "I wish there was more stability in the DTM calendar," he said. "Then the fans can adjust themselves to it better."
Since 2000, the A1 Ring, the Sachsenring, Zolder and Donington Park have lost their place on the schedule, and Adria, Estoril and Shanghai seem to be heading in the same direction.
However, despite caution from Ullrich, a date of June 26 has been pencilled in.
