Cecotto Joins Masters Line-Up

Johnny Cecotto has joined the list of drivers competing in this weekend's DTM Masters Charity race at Nuremberg's Norisring

The former Formula One driver joins Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Emerson Fittipaldi, Jody Scheckter and Mick Doohan at the event.

Venezuelan Cecotto, who has numerous touring car titles to his name, won the world 750cc motorbike title in 1978. He already looks like being the favourite for the event, have taken part in the DTM final at Hockenheim in 2002

The race, which aims to raise more than half a million US dollar for charity, will be decided by aggregated qualifying times as the stars battle it out in DTM cars from Mercedes-Benz, Opel and Audi.

Every competitor will contest three five-minute stints, with each of them doing one stint in the AudiA4 DTM, one in the AMG-Mercedes C-Class and one in the Opel Vectra GTS V8. The fastest lap times a driver sets in each of his stints will be added together to find the winner.

German actor Veronica Ferres and the German football team manager Team Manager Oliver Bierhoff, are expected to attend the event as representatives of the welfare organisations.
