Big changes to 2004 calendar

The German-based DTM touring car series will return to three of its former stomping grounds next year, as Estoril in Portugal, Brno in the Czech Republic and Oschersleben in Germany are added to the 2004 calendar

The news was confirmed at the Essen Motorshow this morning (Friday). Making way are the A1-Ring in Austria (due to track changes), Donington Park in England and the Nurburgring's second date.

Estoril was last used by the DTM in its ITC guise in 1996, and is the first time that the new-look DTM series has been booked in to race in the far west of Europe. Oschersleben was a 'new' DTM regular until falling from favour after 2001.

You have to go back to 1992, however, for the last DTM race at Brno in the Czech Republic, which joins Portugal, Italy (Adria) and Holland (Zandvoort) as the championship's 'away' races.
