Audi target young British drivers

Audi are hoping to place a British driver in one of their DTM cars for this season, this week's Autosport magazine reports

The German manufacturer is looking to fill the final seat of it's four-car effort of 2006-spec machinery, and they have decided to pursue young talent for the future. Adam Carroll, Danny Watts, and Oliver Jarvis are believed to be in the frame for a drive.

Jurgen Pippig, Audi's head of motorsport communication, said: "We are very interested in having an English driver and there will definitely be one in one of our 2006 cars.

"When we were at the Autosport Awards (in December) we saw that there were a lot of good English drivers."

Pippig confirmed that a decision would be taken after Audi had tested the drivers this week.

The rest of Audi's line-up is expected to feature Tom Kristensen, Mattias Ekstrom, Martin Tomczyk, and Timo Scheider, with Christian Abt and Lucas Luhr driving 2006-spec cars for Team Phoenix.

If a British driver is signed to the team, it is likely that he would be placed at Team Rosberg alongside Mike Rockenfeller.
