Aiello intent on resurrecting title bid
Reigning DTM champion Laurent Aiello has vowed to do his best to retain his crown following a slow start to the 2003 season
Abt Sportsline Audi star Aiello, who beat Mercedes' Bernd Schneider to last year's championship, is fifth in the point standings coming into this weekend's sixth round at Donington Park, 14 points behind series leader Christijan Albers of Mercedes. The former British Touring Car Champion is determined to score better results in the second half of the season.
"The first half-time of this year may have been won by Mercedes," he said, "But there are still five races to go, and our arrears are much less than my advantage last year. And then, things still became really exciting. In testing, we have been working a lot on the set-up of the cars. I am certain that this will already help us at Donington."
His team-mate Christian Abt says he will do everything in his power to aid Aiello's title bid.
"We want to catch up and still play a role in the fight for the title," said Abt.
