Audi driver Lucas di Grassi to race in Audi TT Cup at Norisring
Audi World Endurance Championship racer and Formula E title challenger Lucas di Grassi will race in the Audi Sport TT Cup races supporting the DTM at the Norisring this weekend
Di Grassi, who alongside team-mates Loic Duval and Oliver Jarvis finished third in last weekend's Le Mans 24 Hours, will contest the TT Cup races at the Nuremberg street circuit at the behest of Audi, with whom he is attending the event.
The Brazilian will compete in one of the series' designated guest cars - up to eight of which can be used at every round.
"I'm doing some marketing stuff for Audi at the Norisring DTM round," di Grassi told Autosport.
"It's such a great event and so important for the German manufacturers.
"They invited me after the success at Le Mans, I'm doing some DTM taxi drives.
"I raced that track in 2005 in Formula 3 and really liked it.
"I have no idea what I'm going to get! I've never sat in one before, I'll know on Friday or Saturday.
"But I've heard it's a very nice car to drive, very well-balanced.
"To be with Audi and have the possibility to these events is awesome.
"Of course [I want to win] - no doubt about it. When you get in the car everything changes."
Di Grassi's appearance at the Norisring will be his first in the TT Cup, although he last raced at the circuit in the F3 Euro Series in 2005.
It will be also be the 31-year-old's second one-off outing of 2016, having raced in the Brazilian Stock Car Championship at Curitiba in March.
He currently leads the Formula E championship standings ahead of next weekend's double-header season finale at Battersea Park.
