Timo Glock secures BMW DTM test
Formula 1 refugee Timo Glock could be set for a move into the DTM with BMW after the manufacturer confirmed that he will join its test line-up at Valencia this week
The news comes just 24 hours after the Marussia F1 team announced that it had released the 30-year-old German from his contract a year early.
BMW motorsport director Jens Marquardt previously worked with Glock at the Toyota F1 squad.
"We are pleased to be able to offer Timo Glock the opportunity to get to know our BMW M3 DTM in Valencia," Marquardt said.
"Timo has demonstrated his driving ability over many years, particularly in Formula 1.
"It is made all the nicer by the fact that he is, to a certain degree, returning to his roots in testing for BMW Motorsport."
Glock's career has been focused on single-seaters so far, and began in the Formula BMW one-make series in Germany.
"I have fond memories of my time with BMW Motorsport and am very excited about testing the BMW M3 DTM," he said.
"Furthermore, I am bound to see a few familiar faces in Valencia from my previous time with BMW. I am really looking forward to it."
BMW will field eight M3s in the DTM this year, spread across the Schnitzer, RBM, RMG and new EMTEK squads.
Seven of its race drivers for 2013 were announced last December while Maxime Martin was confirmed as its test and reserve driver a week ago.
