Round 22: Rydell wins pole

Reigning champion Rickard Rydell in the Volvo posted fastest time at Brands Hatch for the Feature Race tomorrow deposing the two works Nissans of Laurent Aiello and David Leslie

The session started slowing with only privateers Mark Blair & Matt Neal venturing out on the track for the first few minutes, despite doing 11 laps. Blair finished 16th and last on the grid.

Half way through the session and the works Nissans appeared. Aiello did one flying lap to post the fastest time so far and Leslie slotted in for second on the grid.

Privateer Matt Neal was third until the two works Volvos appeared when Rydell stole third and Neal was briefly the Volvo sandwich filling as Vincent Radermecker set fifth fastest.

The Volvos seemed capable of two flying laps on the short Brands circuit and Rydell then stole pole.

Brands seems to be a circuit that suits Rydell and Volvo as he has had some good results over the years.

Leslie briefly reappeared but cold not improve his position. Renault's Jason Plato appeared briefly before returning to his pit. When he went back out he did enough to finish 11th.

The other Williams Renault of Jean-Christophe Boullion did better with sixth. The two works Hondas of James Thompson & Peter Kox were next out and won fourth and fifth respectively
