Plato not concentrating on rivals

Jason Plato has said that he is not going to be concentrating on anyone behind him in the championship this weekend at Rockingham

The SEAT driver is leading the BTCC standings by nine points from reigning champion Matt Neal, but he is not going to focus on the drivers chasing him in the title race.

"I couldn't care less who is nearest to me," he said. "It's of no interest and I'm certainly not keeping an eye on anyone particular.

"I want us to concentrate on what we are good at and maintaining our lead over whoever that happens to be."

The 39-year-old is not entirely sure how strong his package will be this weekend, as he will start the event with the maximum success ballast due to his position in the championship.

"I've no idea ultimately how competitive we will be compared to the others," he said. "Obviously the target is to take another pair of wins.

"If the ballast means it's not possible to win, then as a team we need to look at the bigger picture and take as many points as we can."
