Plato beats Shedden in race two

Jason Plato has taken victory in race two at Donington Park, despite having started from fifth on the grid

He came home ahead of polesitter Gordon Shedden and Fabrizio Giovanardi in what was another wet race.

SEAT Sport UK driver Plato enjoyed a fantastic battle with Shedden and set the fastest lap of the race, despite Donington being referred to as the team's 'bogey track'.

Plato's title rival Giovanardi also had a thrilling dice with a Dynamics driver, in his case Shedden's teammate Matt Neal, and managed to steal a crucial third place, which has helped keep down the gap to Plato in the championship battle. Plato currently leads by nine points.

Adam Jones, who had claimed a fantastic second place in race one, could not keep the front-running drivers at bay and came home in fifth place, ahead of Darren Turner.

Despite the heavy rain, there were no safety car periods, but it does not look like the weather will clear for the third and final race of the day.

Under the randomly-picked reverse grid, ninth placed finisher Colin Turkington will start race three from pole position.
