Gow talks up future
The head of the British Touring Car Championship, Alan Gow, believes that the series can regain the heights it enjoyed in the mid-'90s
At last Friday's TOCA awards, Gow confirmed that he has re-signed as series director for a further three years. He was at the helm throughout the '90s, and rejoined the championship earlier this year after a couple of years away.
"This championship is going skywards," he declared. "There is a great energy about it again. Those of us who were around when I took over the BTCC back then can surely see the comparisons of where we were in the early '90s and where we are now.
"I know where I want to take this championship and I think I've got the runs on the board to prove I can do it."
Gow has secured live TV coverage of up to half the races on UK terrestrial channel, ITV1. Last week, SEAT announced that it is joining the series with a works two-car entry.
