Chilton fastest in Oulton practice
Tom Chilton did his now usual job of setting the fastest time in practice for the latest round of the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park
The Arena Ford driver went quickest in both the morning and afternoon, his pace-setting time coming in 1m27.658s in the latter session.
Honda's Gordon Shedden was Chilton's closest challenger. He set the second-fastest time in each of the sessions and was 0.025s slower than his rival both times.
Jason Plato was a disappointing eighth quickest in the morning, but set-up changes on his Chevrolet allowed him to move up to third during the afternoon.
WSR's Rob Collard was the best of the BMW drivers in fourth overall while Mat Jackson was next up in his Motorbase-run machine. Both were over half a second off the pace.
Alex MacDowall was sixth quickest in the second of the Chevrolets, but had gone faster than his team-mate Plato in the morning.
Tom Onslow-Cole (Arena Ford), Matt Neal (Honda) and James Nash (Triple 8 Vauxhall) were next up.
Paul O'Neill completed the top 10. This was despite the Tech-Speed Honda driver losing a wheel on the climb out of the Island hairpin early in the morning running.
Andrew Jordan was only 12th quickest in his Eurotech Vauxhall after suffering with an engine issue in both sessions. He stopped for good midway through the second session to give the team as much time as possible to change the unit in time for qualifying.
