Andrew Jordan buoyed by first MG British Touring Car test at Brands

MG driver Andrew Jordan says he is already starting to feel at home with his new team, after completing his maiden test with the factory-backed British Touring Car Championship outfit

The 2013 BTCC champion, who has switched from his family-run Eurotech Racing team, completed a day's running at Brands Hatch on Thursday in the Triple Eight-run MG6.

"I'm really pleased to go around all day and get a good feel for the team and the car," Jordan told AUTOSPORT.

"You can only push on as the track conditions allow you, but I feel really at home with the car and team already.

"It was good. It's always damp in the morning and dries out in the afternoon at this test! You come away thinking 'that was a shame' but really I got some good time on track and we probably did 70 laps in the end.

"It's good to be inside the car and get to know the team, it was quite relaxed."

The BTCC's big 2015 shake-up

Jordan raced for Triple Eight in 2009 when it was still running Vauxhall's programme and said help from his father Mike plus some Eurotech staff following him to Triple Eight had made the transition easier.

He also hopes that the initial running the team achieved at Brands means it will be free to start gaining more valuable mileage in further tests.

"It's a bit different to how it was with Eurotech but dad was still there, it wasn't too much of a shock," he added. "I'm really happy with how it works and I've got a couple of guys who have come over with me as well.

"I know that if it's dry at Thruxton next week, we've got a programme to work through that we can straight into and hit the ground running."
