Brands Hatch BTCC: Jordan takes crown, Shedden wins tense finale

One of his two rivals for the title, Honda's Gordon Shedden, led from pole and, with Jordan starting 24th, was in a position to retain his crown in the early stages.

But Jordan was on a charge. He was 18th by the end of lap one and, when Frank Wrathall ran wide at Graham Hill Bend and Jordan set fastest lap, the title seemed to be heading to the Eurotech Honda driver.

As Shedden had to fight off a strong challenge from Jack Goff's Vauxhall Insignia, Jordan continued his charge and took ninth when his other title rival, Jason Plato, had a moment in his Triple Eight MG.

Jordan then stayed out of a close battle ahead of him and kept clear of Plato to finish ninth and secure the crown despite Shedden taking the race win.

Goff held off a late charge from Mat Jackson's Motorbase Ford Focus, which in turn was being caught by the WSR of Colin Turkington. The 2009 champion was the fastest man on track at times as he came through from row six to fourth.

Aron Smith made it two Motorbase Fords in the top five, while Dave Newsham finished off his good weekend by taking sixth in his Speedworks Toyota.

Jordan beat Shedden in the championship by seven points with Plato third, while the teams' and manufacturers' titles both fell to Honda/Yuasa Racing.
