Gordon Shedden extended his British Touring Car Championship lead by winning the second race at Oulton Park on Sunday afternoon.
Rob Collard's WSR BMW once again jumped poleman Matt Neal (Honda) at the start to lead. It soon became clear that the ballast-laden Neal was struggling and a fast-starting Mat Jackson (Motorbase Ford Focus) easily powered past to take second.
Shedden's Civic and the Eurotech example of Andrew Jordan also overcame Neal and closed on the battling BMW and Ford ahead.
On lap seven of 15, Jackson nudged Collard at the Island hairpin and the two clashed on the exit, giving both punctures that sent them to the pits. That allowed the two Hondas into first and second, with Jordan duly shadowing the works machine home.
Having also overtaken Neal, Dan Welch found himself in a lonely third after the Collard-Jackson clash, but on a charge was the MG of Jason Plato.
After his problems in race one, Plato started from the back. He was 16th at the end of lap one and continued coming through the field, helped by many offs and clashes in an incident-packed race.
He overtook Neal just after half-distance and edged towards Welch. When Welch defended at Lodge in the closing stages, Plato powered past the Proton to secure third. Fourth was nevertheless Welch's best BTCC finish.
Some way back, Neal held on to fifth, ahead of Nick Foster's WSR BMW and the Vauxhall Vectra of Lea Wood. With the trials of team-mates Jackson and Aron Smith, Motorbase's Liam Griffin took a fine eighth.
BTCC debutant Will Bratt was in the fight for the top eight early on, but retired when he went off at Knickerbrook in his Rob Austin Racing Audi.
