Grosjean on Auto GP pole again
Romain Grosjean took his second Auto GP pole in two attempts by emerging on top of a tricky wet/dry session at Magny-Cours
With lap times getting faster and faster as the wet track dried through qualifying, DAMS driver Grosjean produced a 1m45.722s lap to secure pole for his home race.
Another recent Auto GP addition will join him on the front row, with Esteban Guerrieri taking second on his debut, ahead of his Charouz-Gravity team-mate Adrien Tambay, who fared better in the wet.
Duncan Tappy took fourth for DAMS, while Super Nova's debutant Jake Rosenzweig benefited from a well-timed lap to claim fifth.
Several drivers were caught out by the changing conditions and did not get a good lap in at the right time or get their set-up right for the weather. Giorgio Pantano will start back in 11th in his first appearance with Euronova, with championship leader Edoardo Piscopo (DAMS) and practice pacesetter Jonny Reid (Super Nova) sharing the seventh and final row.
