WTCC ballast for Mexico announced
The World Touring Car Championship's new success ballast system will be introduced in the second round of the series at Puebla, Mexico, on April 6
The top 10 scoring drivers from the first round at Brazil will have weight added, with joint leaders and SEAT teammates Yvan Muller and Gabriele Tarquini carrying 44kg each - 30kg for taking a win each at Curitiba and 14kg for the championship points they collected.
BMW drivers Andy Priaulx and Jorg Muller will have 33kg and 26kg each, with Rickard Rydell (+20), Felix Porteiro (+14), Augusto Farfus (+3), Tom Coronel (+2), Jordi Gene (+1), and independent driver Olivier Tielemans (+1) also weighted.
The three Chevrolet Lacetti's of Alain Menu, Nicola Larini, and Rob Huff will be lightest of the front runners at Puebla after their nightmare weekend in Brazil where all three retired from the first race and only Menu managed a top 10 finish in race two.
The races in Mexico in three weeks time will be the first time the WTCC has visited Puebla since Salvatore Tavano and Augusto Farfus took a victory each for Alfa Romeo in 2006.
