Series adds Dubai race
The European Touring Car Championship season is set to end in Dubai next season. The latest calendar, announced by the FIA today (Friday), reveals a final round planned for the circuit in the United Arab Emirates
The race on 9 October will be "in preparation for the expansion of the championship beyond European frontiers in 2005."
As in 2003, the FIA GT series will join the touring cars at every meeting next year, including Dubai. But the GT cars will have one extra race, ending their season in Zhuhai, China. The permanent track at Zhuhai last hosted the GT series in 1999.
Both the Chinese and Dubai races have been included subject to circuit homologation and the arrangement of a contract.
The European F3000 series also recently announced plans to have a round in Dubai next year. That race is to go ahead on October 17.
