Second qualifying: Huisman holds on

Dutchman Duncan Huisman held onto his pole position for this weekend's Macau Guia race despite badly damaging his car in an accident in Friday morning's free practice session.

Although his Carly Motors team were able to repair the car in time for final qualifying, he was unsure whether it would be good enough to go quicker if his time was eclipsed. He did not have to worry after fellow front-row starter Tom Coronel hit the wall at Lisboa early in qualifying and could not continue in the session.

"It was quite a hectic day especially after pushing my car too hard this morning and crashing," said Huisman. "My team did a great job to repair it. The front and left suspension had gone, the wishbones, the steering and everything. Now we have to get through the first leg on Sunday and then we will see what happens."

Former F3 Grand Prix winner Coronel was slightly disappointed not to have been able to beat Huisman to the top spot.

"After Duncan's crash this morning I thought there might be a chance of pole position but then I had a problem myself," he said. "I touched the wall at Lisboa but I didn't think I was really over the limit. Duncan and I just made the same mistake!"
