SEAT gathers pace
After Jordi Gene set a fastest race lap time at Magny-Cours last weekend, Rickard Rydell emphasised SEAT's gathering ETCC speed when he went significantly quicker in a post-race test at the French circuit
Rydell took the Toledo Cupra round the French GP venue in 1m48.9s, which was almost half a second quicker than BMW's Jorg Muller had gone three days before to set pole position for the weekend's ETCC rounds.
Muller and his BMW Team Deutschland team-mate Dirk Muller were also present for the test, both lapping at around the 1m49.4s mark, while Andy Priaulx - like Dirk Muller a race-winner over the weekend - was a further two tenths of a second slower in the BMW Team GB car.
JAS Motorsport is also making steady progress with its new Honda Accord, which made its debut in the Magny-Cours races. Alessandro Balzan found another 0.8s over his qualifying time, though with a best test lap of 1m50.6s the car still has some way to go before it is fully competitive.
The next round of the ETCC is at Hockenheim on May 16.
