Race 1: Priaulx wins

Andy Priaulx dodged warring Alfa Romeos in the first of the ETCC races at Hockenheim to score his second victory of the season

The British driver kept his BMW out of harm's way as all three of the Alfas retired from the race, after a first lap incident. Augusto Farfus appeared to trigger the incident, which sidelined him and Autodelta teammates Gabriele Tarquini and Fabrizio Giovanardi on the spot.

Priaulx then led from Antonio Garcia and Jordi Gene, the Spaniard coming off of SEAT's first pole. Dirk Muller held on to fourth just ahead of Frank Diefenbacher and Jorg Muller.

On lap 8, Muller finally managed to get by Gene after a couple of brave attempts, and at the same time, Garcia ran wide and spun off, allowing Muller up to second.

But in the final three laps, the Schnitzer driver had nothing for Priaulx, and the Briton scored his second ETCC win in a row. Gene held on to third to score a podium for SEAT
