Muller leads Chevy trio in practice

Yvan Muller led a Chevrolet 1-2-3 in the opening practice session for the World Touring Car Championship round at Brno

After sitting out the first half of the session, reigning champion Muller jumped to the top of the timesheets with just six minutes of free practice to run. His fastest lap of 2m11.039s was just over a tenth of a second quicker than team-mate Alain Menu, who finished the session third.

Current points leader Rob Huff, whose best lap of 2m11.525s took him to the top of the timesheets early on, rounded out the Chevrolet trio in third.

Norbert Michelisz (Zengo Dension BMW) continued his strong Hungaroring form by finishing 0.2s behind the Chevrolet trio in fourth. Polestar Racing's Robert Dahlgren opened the debut weekend for his new 1.6 turbo engine with a strong run to fifth in the Volvo while Tom Coronel was next up for ROAL Motorsport in sixth.

A difficult practice session for Gabriele Tarquini meant his SUNRED SEAT spend the majority of the free practice in the pits. The Italian eventually got up to speed, and finished the session eighth just behind fellow SEAT runner Michel Nykjaer. Kristian Poulsen and Pepe Oriola rounded out the top 10.

Neither Tiago Monteiro nor Fredy Barth had much to cheer about however, after multiple problems and extensive time in pitlane resulted in them lapping well off the pace and prop up the timesheets as a result.
