Macau Touring Cars: Double joy for Huisman

Duncan Huisman collected his second straight win in the SJM Guia race at Macau, leading every lap of the two 12-lap races. However, the Dutchman's wins were far from easy, but he kept his cool and avoided the walls, while some of his closest challengers did not

The BMW driver held his pole position off the line in race one, but team-mate Jorg Muller ran him close. The German kept the pressure on until he made a mistake and overshot the braking point at Lisboa. This handed second place to local expert Andre Couto, who duly came home second 1.5s down on Huisman.

In the second race Huisman repeated his strong start and this time he lead into the first corner from Formula 1 tester Anthony Davidson and Muller - who made an excellent getaway from sixth.

Muller passed Davidson and closed in on Huisman, but just when it looked as though he might make a move for the lead the 320 was forced out when the cam belt slipped off.

This handed Huisman a comfortable four-second advantage at the front, but that was wiped out when the Safety Car was deployed on lap seven after Couto smashed into the barriers at Mandarin Bend.

Alfa Romeo's Nicola Larini was promoted to second by the accident and the Italian, who had forced his way up the order with an aggressive drive, did all that he could to hassle Huisman into a mistake. He didn't and the Dutchman went on to take his second win - his brother Patrick also won the event back in 2000.

Davidson was denied a well-deserved podium when he crashed out after colliding with BMW's Peter Scharmach. This gifted the final podium spot to Franz Engstler.
