Promoted: Watch Silverstone's World RX debut live on free UK TV

With a groundbreaking weekend approaching as the World Rallycross championship makes its debut at Silverstone, fans will be able to watch the action on free-to-air television as part of FreeSports' growing portfolio

The channel revealed last week it will show live coverage of the DTM along with Thursday highlight packages after each round, and has followed it up by revealing its World RX intentions for 2018.

The championship has gone from strength to strength since starting in 2014, and the short races and spectacular action as cars are pitched sideways across gravel and asphalt has proven a real hit with manufacturers and fans alike.

The series has attracted backing from Volkswagen, Peugeot and Audi, and Ford, Renault and Hyundai cars are also used.

The series is also gearing up for an electric revolution in the future. The use of electric technology makes World RX a strong proposition for input from manufacturers and sponsors, with many known to be investigating the championship and what it intends to do when it comes to electrification in the future.

This year the likes of reigning champion Johan Kristoffersson, double champion and World Rally champion Petter Solberg and the most successful rally driver of all time, Sebastien Loeb, will be in action on the specially-built circuit on the infield near Stowe, at 'The Home of British Motorsport' at Silverstone in Northamptonshire.

The first turn is a hairpin, which will no doubt create excitement and drama, while a big jump will send the 600bhp hatchbacks airborne.

After Silverstone, the series still has exotic climes to reach, including Canada, the United States, South Africa, as well as a strong European leg.

Eight events remain after Britain, with plenty of on-air hours for viewers to enjoy on FreeSports. The coverage is presented by 'Mr Rallycross' himself Andrew Coley, and there's no fear of anyone missing out on the live coverage as regular repeats will appear on the channel through the week.

Coupled with the DTM, World RX joins a packed package of action courtesy of FreeSports. Australian Supercars, Formula Drift, Monster Jam, NASCAR and Polish and Swedish speedway are all part of the channel's showreel.

Couple that with Football, Boxing, Rugby Union, MMA, Basketball and Ice Hockey and you have the full package. The channel is also moving to HD on Sky and Freesat this Summer, and is expected to be available on Virgin Media in HD soon.

FreeSports is available via the following outlets: Freeview (95), Sky (422), FreeSat (252), TVPlayer (online), TalkTalk TV (95) and BT (95).
