Derek Tohill returns to World and European Rallycross for 2016
Former World Rallycross driver Derek Tohill will return to the championship next season driving an OlsbergsMSE Ford Fiesta Supercar, run by his own team
The Irishman finished 14th overall the 2014 World RX standings in an LD Motorsports run Citroen DS3.
He will compete in the full European Rallycross Championship and additional World RX events next season.
Tohill tested the freshly built Fiesta for the first time on Monday, where he was given an introduction to the new car by OMSE owner Andreas Eriksson.
Having won the rear-wheel drive TouringCar category in 2010 and '13, Tohill is embarking on the new project with a long-term plan of landing the European Supercar crown.
"We know we've a lot to learn but I'm really excited to be able to prepare through the winter for the 2016 season. I really believe we can compete for finals in the European Championship," said Tohill.
"We had a very successful shakedown and test, where we got excellent training and support from Andreas Eriksson and the OMSE team."
Tohill will make his debut in the new car at the penultimate round of the Irish Rallycross Championship this weekend at Mondello Park.
"I've dreamt all my life about racing my own Supercar at Mondello and it's about to happen," he said.
