BTCC and British F3 winners among World RX talent search finalists

British Touring Car Championship and British Formula 3 race-winners, and a Formula 1 world champion's son, are among the 12 finalists for the World Rallycross Championship's RX Talent Search scheme

The final 12 have been shortlisted from over 120 applicants in the contest to win a prize-drive in the RX Lites Cup category at World RX's Turkish round, which is held at ex-grand prix venue Istanbul Park.

BTCC race winner Tom Onslow-Cole, current Porsche Carrera Cup GB leader Dan Cammish, British F3 race winner Rupert Svendsen-Cook, BTCC podium finisher Jack Clarke and MSA Formula driver Sennan Fielding are among the 12.

They will each drive an OlsbergsMSE RX Lites machine at Lydden Hill, assessed by a selection of judges including 2001 World Rally champion co-driver Robert Reid, OlsbergsMSE team principal Andreas Eriksson, 2013 BTCC champion Andrew Jordan, World RX chief Martin Anayi and Motorsport News deputy editor Matt James.

Freddie Hunt, son of 1976 F1 champion James, is also a contender, while British rally frontrunner Euan Thorburn will be joined by Junior European Rally Championship driver Chris Ingram, who began his career in Junior rallycross.

Several other finalists also started in the UK junior rallycross ranks, with Jason Pritchard, Jake Taylor, and Legends racer Ben Power making the shortlist.

The current British SuperNational rallycross championship leader, 17 year-old Daniel Rooke, will also take part.

Reid, the MSA performance director, said: "The MSA is absolutely delighted that this initiative has received such tremendous interest - it further underlines just how far rallycross has come in the past couple of years.

"Moreover, it wasn't just the number of entrants that impressed but also the quality of those applying.

"It wasn't easy to pick the 12 finalists and I'm sure it will be even harder to select the overall prize drive winner."
