Wilson predicts strong Stobart run

Ford World Rally Team principal Malcolm Wilson says the Stobart squad goes into this weekend's Rally Germany stronger then ever with renowned asphalt expert Francois Duval joining Gigi Galli

Duval has a deal to drive the second point-scoring Stobart Ford on the three remaining asphalt rounds of the WRC.

"The Stobart team have a very good chance of scoring well in Germany," said Wilson. "We're fielding our strongest team to date.

"Francois' record speaks for itself and he'll do a great job for the team, while Gigi has been here a few times so will have experience of one of the most challenging rounds of the championship."

After a positive test with the team, he's delighted to be back in a Ford for the first time since finishing fourth - missing out on a podium by 1.1 seconds - on the season-opening Monte Carlo Rally.

The Belgian is in confident mood ahead of the event, in which he's finished second to Sebastien Loeb for three of the last four years.

"I'm excited, I know I have the best speed on asphalt," said Duval. "I've had some very good results in Germany and this year I'm in the championship-leading car, so hopefully it can continue.

"The stages here are quite similar to those around home in Belgium which will help a lot."
