Top drivers to join Park homage

The world's leading rally drivers have confirmed their participation in a kart race to commemorate the life of Michael 'Beef' Park, who was killed in an accident on last year's Rally Great Britain, according to this weekend's Autosport

The event will take place in Tallinn, the home of Park's former driver and event organiser Markko Martin.

The June 20 event will begin with Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip unveiling a monument to Park. Following that, Martin is predicting a sell-out, 8,000 strong crowd to attend the race.

"It should be a good day," said Martin. "The monument is going to be in a really nice place and then we go on to the race. We've called it Star Track and there will be a concert and party afterwards.

"I think 'Beef' would have liked what we're going to be doing. I'm really pleased all of the drivers will be coming - they've shown great support for this."

Double world champion Sebastien Loeb and his co-driver Daniel Elena confirmed their participation during last week's Rally d'Italia.

Subaru driver Petter Solberg is expected to attend, along with fellow former world champions Colin McRae and Tommi Makinen.

In addition to a driver's race a co-driver event is also planned, in which team principals are expected to compete. The money raised from ticket sales will go to a charity in Park's name.
