Stage 14: McRae looking good

Colin McRae is just one stage (18.34kms) from his first rally win since Portugal last year.

The Scot has enjoyed a narrow edge over his British rival Richard Burns on the final day of the Catalunya Rally and the pair go into the final test split by just 5.9s.

Burns would love to catch and pass his rival but is not prepared to risk his and Subaru's best asphalt finish since McRae won the Corsica Rally for the team in 1998.

Second place will be enough to extend his World Championship lead over Tommi Makinen as a raft of gravel events looms on the calendar, each of which represents a good scoring opprtunity for the Oxford driver.

However Burns is not in a position to ease off and take a secure second place as McRae's team mate Carlos Sainz is just 5.1s further back and on course for his first decent result in Spain for several years.

The final stage starts just after 2pm local time and about 15 mins later we will know the answer...
