SS16, Tokatoka: 6 out of 8 for Burns

It was the shortest stage of the day, but Richard Burns didn't let up as he tightened his grip on the top of the leaderboard. Another stage win, on SS16 Tokatoka, took his tally to six on leg two. The Englishman has 40-second lead over Colin McRae going into the final day.

Harri Rovanpera was less than a second behind Burns, followed by McRae's Ford in third. Francois Delecour, fourth on Tokatoka, must be cursing his lapse of concentration on the first of the day's stages when he rolled his Ford Focus, because since then he has been setting fast times, but still finds himself down in 12th overall.

Tommi Makinen was fifth on the leg's last stage, followed Didier Auriol and Carlos Sainz, who set identical times on Tokatoka.

Marcus Gronholm, Toni Gardemeister (who lies in 16th overall) and Alister McRae make up the rest of the top 10.
