SS12, Lopigna-Sarrola II: Puras top

Citroen's Jesus Puras extended his lead by a further six seconds over leg two's final 30.11km Lopigna Sarrola II stage. The Spaniard now has a 23.5s advantage over Peugeot's Gilles Panizzi as the teams head to service and then overnight parc ferme

Panizzi's team mate Didier Auriol set the third fastest time to consolidate his third position overall and fourth place has been snatched by Subaru's Petter Solberg after Francois Delecour's Ford suffered brake failure. The Frenchman now lies fifth.

He said: "As well as having no brakes, I also had a big vibration from the rear. I thought that maybe I'd not done up the wheel nuts tightly enough, but I checked at the end and they were fine. I certainly didn't hit anything."

Markko Martin set the sixth fastest stage time and also holds sixth overall and Freddy Loix was seventh fastest and the Mitsubishi driver is now 14th overall.

Richard Burns is in a points scoring seventh position and Harri Rovanpera, Piero Liatti and Alister McRae complete the top ten.

Colin McRae meanwhile slipped a further place down the leaderboard to 12th overall, the power steering failure making his stage time outside the top 15 fastest.
