SS10: Burns vs Auriol
Richard Burns and Didier Auriol continue to fight for the lead of the 555 China Rally
The duo swapped fastest stage times on the opening tests of the day and now run eight seconds apart.
Behind them, Carlos Sainz has eased into third, but is only 3.1s ahead of Tommi Makinen and Juha Kankkunen. Makinen has been unable to reproduce the form he showed at the start of the rally, despite a ten second penalty having now been annulled.
Piero Liatti's retirement has virtually assured SEAT team-mate Harri Rovanpera of a points finish, but the best action looks like coming from the top five this weekend.
Alister McRae is 13th overall but leading Formula Two for Hyundai, over a minute in front of team-mate Kenneth Eriksson. Volcan Isik and Toshihiro Arai lead the Teams Cup class and Group N respectively, both in the top ten overall.
