Service G – Ruawai: Burns satisfied

Richard Burns (Subaru) - rally leader: "I am satisfied with that. It's about the gap I thought I'd get. I could have gone a little quicker if I'd pushed harder at the start - about 10 seconds."

(Ford) - second, +02.7s: "It has gone better than I thought it would. There's only Richard (Burns) and Harri (Rovanpera) who have taken a lot of time. If they carry on at that pace Richard is going to pull quite a lot on us though. He is in the perfect place. If nobody had messed around last night, that's where we would have been."

(Ford) - third, +17.6s: "One of the two guys in front of me on the road is not using my lines, that's for sure. If Harri (Rovanpera) is taking one minute out of Marcus (Gronholm), that says something."

(Peugeot) - fourth, +31.1s: "The car was perfect and the tyres good. There is nothing we can do for the moment."

(Peugeot) - fifth, +43.5s: "The car was good and I could see a clean line."

(Peugeot) - sixth, +1m01.2s: "I was a little bit afraid of the tyres so I slowed down too much. The car felt good. We still have one more day left and there will be a lot of gravel too. Harri (Rovanpera) did a fantastic time, I don't think I could do that if I tried."

(Hyundai) - seventh, +1m09.0s: "I am happy with my driving and the car felt fantastic. This is the price you pay for leading overnight."

(Hyundai) - eighth, +1m11.7s: "I was trying to conserve the tyres, I could have pushed a lot harder. I lost the brakes on the last 8km, I had to pump the pedal all the time."

(Subaru) - 10th, +1m16.8s: "I tried to take care of the tyres and they were like brand new at the end of the stage. I should have gone flat out and dealt with it."

(Mitsubishi) - 11th, +1m36.5s: "I chose the softer compound tyre and I started slowly to try and keep them in good condition. But every time I tried to push harder I felt them overheating."

(Mitsubishi) - 12th, +1m51.1s: "My wipers were broken from the start and then I hit a big puddle about 8km from the end. I also had a little dust from catching Toshi Arai and at times I couldn't see anything."

(Ford) - 17th, +4m33.3s: Delecour rolled on SS9 knocking the front left wing, denting the roof and losing the windscreen. "I was driving steadily and carefully as I was on soft tyres, but it was too slowly and I lost concentration. The car went over and I had to get spectators to help us. We kicked out the windscreen ourselves as it was completely broken."
