Service E-Mundaring: Notes & quotes

Marcus Gronholm: (Peugeot) - rally leader: "I'm not happy with the car. The angles of the front wheels change without me hitting anything. My driving has been good, but I could have done better still."

(Subaru) - second, +2.0s: "We've had no really big problems today and we've made good use of our position on the road." The Brit had yet another mousse break-up just 2km into SS8 causing vibration.

(Ford) - fourth, +4.5s: "It was quite difficult on the second time through those stages [Helena North and South]. I didn't want to take any chances on the ruts because if you bounce out of them, you're in the trees. I'm quite happy with the day though."

(Subaru) - seventh, +1m24.2s: "I'm very happy. Our only problems today have been some mousse break-ups."

(Mitsubishi) - ninth, +2m14.5s: "It's not very easy, especially the last stage [SS9] because it was very narrow. I've got quite a good feeling with the car now though, but there's still a lot of work to do."

(Ford) - 10th, +2m24.9s: After over-coming flaming tyres and mangled bodywork earlier in the day, the Frenchman suffered from a lack of power-steering on SS7.

(Hyundai) - 11th, +3m10.1s: "Those stages were better than before because there wasn't as much loose gravel. But on the other hand, we knackered our tyres completely, so the last stage was difficult."
