Service C-Mundaring: Notes & quotes
Marcus Gronholm: (Peugeot) - rally leader: "I'm surprised at the times because the car doesn't feel so good to drive. The steering doesn't feel perfect."
(Peugeot) - second, +5.1s: "I started on narrow tyres. It wasn't bad, but I'm not sure I've made the right choice. The car was moving around a bit on the first stage (SS2)."
(Ford) - third, +7.4s: "It's going reasonably well - apart from the Peugeots' speed! But then we knew that would be the case anyway. It's difficult in the ruts with the long wheel-base. I think that's where the Peugeots are making up the time."
(Subaru) - fourth, +10.3s: Burns had a problem on the first two stages where the engine on his Impreza WRC was cutting out and he was locking wheels underbraking and changing down.
(Ford) - fifth, +10.5s: Problem with the mousse in his Pirelli tyres, causing his Focus WRC to vibrate on SS3.
(Peugeot) - sixth, +13.2s: "No problems!"
(Mitsubishi) - eighth, +29.9s: "We have a lot to learn. Timo (Hantunen) is still learning the notes as well. In the last one (SS3) we lost them completely on a fast section and I had to brake. The car feels very big."
(Peugeot) - ninth, +37.7s: "The starting order isn't fair (those running first on the road are clearing the infamous marbles of gravel on the stages for those running further down). We should have a qualifying stage on Thursday to set the order."
(Subaru) - 10th, +43.0s: "On the second one (SS3) I stalled the car on the line and I had a front mousse vibration a few kilometres from the end."
(Ford) - 11th, +49.2s: Delecour's Focus was misfiring on both stages.
(Mitsubishi) - 12th, +57.2s: "Not too bad, but I'm not too happy with my driving on SS3."
(Hyundai) - 13th, +1m00.6s: "We're trying to drive on the clean line left during the recce."
(Hyundai) - 15th, +1m06.9: "The window was coming down on Staffan's (Parmander) side. There was so much dust coming in I almost coughed to death. I could just about see out."
