McRae's frustration bubbles over
Colin McRae is close to losing patience with Ford after dropping out of the Catalunya Rally on the first leg of the event.
McRae told The Times newspaper today (Saturday) that he is becoming frustrated with recent results. "The performance has been good but we're just not getting to the end," he said. "There's a limit to how much someone can take."
McRae has finished just once since his near fatal crash in Corsica last season, ninth in Sweden still not bringing any championship points. This time last year he ended a run of non-finishes with victory in Catalunya but the promise shown in mid-season seems to have drifted away.
The implication of McRae's heat of the moment comment is that he may start to look elsewhere if the team can't halt this slump in fortune but the Scot has often shown remarkable resilience and has been loyal to Ford throughout its development years with the Focus WRC.
Ford sources are now blaming Colin McRae's retirement yesterday, and related problems suffered by Sainz and Delecour, on a faulty batch of fuel pumps.
